1st Choice Fresh Market is a locally owned, independent grocery store dedicated to offering top-quality products, outstanding service, and a great shopping experience. We take pride in our fresh meat department and are looking for a skilled, dependable meat cutter to join our team.
Position Summary
The Meat Cutter is responsible for cutting, trimming, and preparing fresh meats according to company standards, ensuring quality, freshness, and food safety. This role requires strong knife skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service in a clean and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities
- Cut, trim, and prepare various types of meat including beef, pork, and poultry to specifications.
- Maintain high standards for freshness, product appearance, and food safety.
- Properly weigh, package, label, and display products in the meat case.
- Rotate stock and ensure accurate inventory levels.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the cutting area, tools, and equipment.
- Follow all food safety and department operating procedures.
- Assist customers with special orders, product questions, and custom cuts.
- Collaborate with department manager on merchandising, displays, and promotions.
- Help train or guide junior team members when needed.
Qualifications
- Prior meat cutting or butchering experience preferred (retail or processing).
- Strong knowledge of meat cuts, yields, and safe cutting techniques.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong work ethic.
- Team-oriented attitude with great customer service skills.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation standards.
Schedule
- Full-time position, typically 40 hours per week.
- Must be available for weekends and holidays as scheduled.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
