Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Meat Cutter to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for food production and food safety, looking to develop their skills in meat cutting and food preparation within a professional environment.
Perform the duties of the Meat manager in their absence. This includes preparing, cutting, grinding, pricing and merchandising product in the meat department to maximize selection for the customers and sales to the business.
Act as the assistant meat cutter for the store, providing first class customer service at all times. Responsible for the ordering of all product from numerous different vendors utilizing multiple ordering systems. Merchandise product to maximize sales, ensure freshness and check that the product in your department is within code date. Assist in the development of sales programs and product development that will maximize profit and minimize shrink. Lead the stores effort in Food Safety compliance and cleanliness. Assist in the facility management and design of deli/meat areas for expansion/remodels. Ensure all product processes on the POS system and is properly departmentalized. Reduce short-dated items to minimize loss. Advise the management on necessary product or policy changes. Assist in the general operation of the store, when necessary, to include cashiering, vendor affairs, deposit returns, etc.
Responsibilities
- Assist in cutting, trimming, and preparing various types of meats according to established standards
- Support the packaging of meat products to ensure freshness and safety
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas in compliance with food safety regulations
- Help with inventory management by organizing supplies and ensuring proper storage of products
- Follow all safety procedures related to knife handling and meat processing
- Support customer service efforts by providing knowledgeable assistance when needed
- Adhere to food handling protocols to ensure product quality and safety at all times
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of product weights, labels, and expiration dates
Experience
- Previous experience in food production, food preparation, or kitchen environments is preferred
- Familiarity with meat cutting techniques and knife skills is highly desirable
- Experience in food handling, packaging, or working within the food industry is a plus
- Culinary or restaurant experience that demonstrates attention to detail and customer service skills is beneficial
- Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations related to meat processing is advantageous

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
