A mid-level management position in the Quality Assurance department at Lyons Magnus, a food and beverage manufacturer headquartered in Fresno, California. The Quality Assurance Manager requires an understanding of team leadership, problem solving, quality principles, and technology. Operationally including but not limited to quality and safety assurance of all products, plant and equipment capabilities, accuracy of formulations, GMPs, HACCP guidelines and technical leadership.
Pay Range: $110,000 – $125,000 + bonus
Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexible scheduling available)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, with rotating weekend coverage
Location: Fresno, CA

Core Responsibilities:
- Coach and develop staff using their personal development plans and ensure individual training within their area of expertise.
- Support Quality Supervisors in managing indirect staff, ensuring compliance to procedures and best practices.
- Contribute to the overall company Quality agenda.
- Essential partner to Operations, Engineering, R&D, and Food Safety to ensure products meet Quality standards.
- Review all manufacturing deviations with production and Quality staff to root cause effectively.
- Verify all Quality checks for accuracy and completeness, following up with personnel or escalating as appropriate.
- Conduct GEMBA walks to verify and correct application of policies, investigate root cause of incidents, and gain insights into Quality initiatives.
- Verify all laboratory SOPs, ensuring performance metrics are achieved with a focus on exceeding customer expectations.
- Create training materials; SOPs, VWIs and OPLs for the successful implementation and adherence to company, customer, SQF, and regulatory food safety and quality requirements.
- Ensure all laboratory equipment and supporting operations measuring devices are calibrated, verified as scheduled and functioning as designed. Troubleshoot and or escalate to vendors for effective repair or replacement.
- Ensure customer product sampling is completed and shipped in a timely manner to respective 3rd party contractor or customer’s preference.
- Continuously improve processes with regards to defect reduction, customer complaint investigation, and root cause analysis.
- Duties as prescribed by Director, VP, or SVP Quality Assurance.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with cross functional teams, internally and externally.
- Individual must have strong food processing skills and a Quality background.
- Demonstrated organizational, planning and time management skills.
- Problem-solving skills and creativity for developing innovative solutions and applications.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong emphasis on technical presentations and reports.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects under short timelines to produce commercially viable solutions.
- Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university required; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; food manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Proven team-building skills and demonstrated leadership capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in food manufacturing environments.
- Quality certifications such as PCQI and/or Better Process Control School certification preferred.
