Responsibilities
- Assist the Kitchen Manager in overseeing daily kitchen operations, including food production, inventory control, and quality assurance
- Supervise and train kitchen staff on food preparation techniques, safety procedures, and proper food handling practices
- Ensure all food is prepared according to company standards, recipes, and health regulations
- Manage shift schedules, monitor staff performance, and support team development through ongoing training and coaching
- Oversee POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS for accurate order processing and cash handling
- Maintain inventory levels by monitoring stock, placing orders, and controlling waste to optimize food costs
- Enforce food safety standards and sanitation procedures to ensure compliance with health regulations
- Support restaurant management with budget adherence, cost control measures, and operational efficiency initiatives
- Collaborate with front-of-house teams to deliver seamless customer service experiences in casual dining or quick service environments
- Participate in interviewing potential team members and contribute to hiring decisions to build a strong kitchen team
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen management within a fast-paced restaurant or hospitality setting
- Strong knowledge of POS systems including Aloha POS and Micros POS for transactions and inventory tracking
- Excellent leadership skills with experience supervising staff, conducting training sessions, and managing shifts effectively
- Deep understanding of food safety protocols, sanitation standards, and proper food handling practices
- Ability to manage inventory control processes efficiently while minimizing waste and controlling costs
- Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on creating positive dining experiences
- Familiarity with budgeting, food management systems, and hospitality operations such as catering or banquet services
- Effective communication skills for team training, staff development, and collaboration with management
- Previous assistant manager or supervisory experience in a quick service or casual dining restaurant preferred
- Knowledge of culinary techniques across various cuisines; experience in fine dining or hotel food service is a plus
