Job Type: Kitchen Staff
The Canoe Club Wine Bar is looking to hire a Kitchen Staff Member to prepare delicious meals according to our Menu. Kitchen staff are responsible for preparing ingredients, processing customer orders, producing meals and cleaning their workspace throughout the shift to follow health and safety guidelines. The position must follow recipes consistently, make adjustments based on customer requests, communicate with other staff and ensure attractive presentation for each meal.
To be successful in the position, you should be able to use various cooking techniques and methods to prepare meals that meet our customers’ expectations. Ultimately, an excellent kitchen staff member should be able to handle multiple food orders without compromising on quality.
Kitchen Staff Responsibilities:
- Provide a pleasant dining experience as Canoe Club is an “open-kitchen” environment.
- Creates meals to be served by reviewing recipes, assembling, combining, and cooking ingredients with attention to detail of each order, and maintaining a sanitary kitchen.
- Prepares ingredients by, cutting, chopping, mincing, stirring, whipping, and mixing, adding seasonings, and plating meals.
- Completes hot meal preparation by utilizing various utensils and equipment including a Wood Fired Oven
- Executes cold food production in accordance with standards of plating guide specifications.
- Adheres to proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures, and maintains appropriate dating, labeling, and rotation of all food items.
- Stores leftovers according to established standards.
- Check quality of ingredients as well as monitor stock and report to Kitchen Manager if orders need placed
- Assists with receipt of deliveries.
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of equipment, food storage, and work areas.
- Completes cleaning according to daily and weekly schedules and dishwashing/pot washing as needed.
- Ensures smooth operation of services during absence of supervisor.
Kitchen Staff Requirements:
- Restaurant or other institutional or commercial cooking experience to include food preparation preferred
- Knowledge and ability to safely and effectively operate standard food service equipment preferred
- Ohio Department of Health Person-In-Charge (PIC) Level One Food Safety Certification preferred.
- Positive attitude and ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent customer service skills
- Effective communication skills
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to challenges if they arise.
- The ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift at least 25lbs
Pay: Starting at $15.00 per hour
