PITTSFIELD LOCATION ONLY
We are looking for a motivated Cheese & Olive Production Team Member to join our food processing team. In this role, you will be an essential part of creating and packaging delicious cheese and olive products in a busy, food industry environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and eager to learn about food production processes while maintaining high standards of sanitation and quality.
The Cheese & Olive Production Team Member is responsible for producing fresh mozzarella, preparing and packaging olive bar and Mediterranean specialty items, and grating and portioning cheeses. This position helps ensure the highest standards of quality, freshness, food safety, and customer service while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Schedule: Must have flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Schedule may vary based on business needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Produce fresh mozzarella daily according to established quality and food safety standards, including preparing ingredients, cooking, weighing, packaging, and labeling finished products.
- Prepare mozzarella and other ingredients for Caprese salads and other prepared food items as needed.
- Prepare and package olive bar and Mediterranean specialty items, including olives, antipasti, and marinated vegetables.
- Grate, portion, package, and label Parmesan and other cheeses as needed.
- Monitor product quality and freshness and follow proper product rotation procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area in accordance with company and health department standards.
- Collaborate with the LaGrotta Manager and Importing Manager to ensure adequate inventory levels and proper product rotation.
- Provide friendly, professional customer service by assisting customers and answering product-related questions.
- Follow all company policies, food safety procedures, and sanitation standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to follow directions, procedures, and food safety guidelines.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous food preparation, deli, kitchen, grocery, or production experience is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand and move continuously for 6–8 hours during a workday.
- Ability to lift, carry, and hold items weighing up to 35 pounds.
- Must be able to bend, twist, squat, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in varying temperature environments, including walk-in coolers and freezers.
- Requires frequent use of hands for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, pulling, and packaging products.
- Must be able to hear and respond to customer inquiries, phone calls, and overhead paging systems.
