Responsibilities
- Safely prepare and handle a variety of deli foods, including slicing meats, cheeses, and preparing ready-to-eat items according to established standards.
- Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS for processing sales, refunds, and returns efficiently.
- Manage cash handling responsibilities accurately during transactions, ensuring proper register closures at shift end.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the deli area by cleaning counters, utensils, equipment, and adhering to food safety protocols throughout your shift.
- Assist customers with their selections, answer questions about products, and promote upselling opportunities to enhance sales.
- Restock shelves, organize displays, and ensure all food items are properly labeled with correct pricing.
- Conduct end-of-day procedures including food waste management, inventory counts, and securing the area for closing.
- Support food safety standards by following proper food handling procedures and sanitation guidelines at all times.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient bussing of tables or cleanup as needed in the café or retail space.
- Uphold excellent customer service by engaging positively with shoppers and addressing their needs promptly.
- Assist with training new team members on POS systems, food prep techniques, and safety procedures when required.
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation within a quick service or fast-food restaurant environment.
- Familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS for smooth transaction processing.
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices, sanitation standards, and proper food handling techniques.
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently during busy closing hours.
- Ability to perform basic math accurately for cash handling, retail math calculations, and inventory counts.
- Demonstrated customer service skills with a friendly attitude that promotes positive shopping experiences.
- Experience in cashiering or retail sales with upselling capabilities to boost sales performance.
- Knowledge of kitchen or deli operations gained through restaurant experience or culinary background is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently while also being an effective team player in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of grocery store operations or retail math principles is advantageous.
