Job Overview
The Hancock Market is seeking an individual who is excited about food and community to work in our small grocery. In this role, you will support our small but mighty meat counter by assisting with meat cutting and grinding, slicing of deli meats, providing excellent customer service and preparing some simple recipes for our prepared food menu.
Experience in foodservice is preferred, but we are happy to train an enthusiastic candidate. Schedule requires working evenings (11 am-7pm). Friday and Saturday off. Part or full-time hours depending on employee interest.
Duties
- Assist in the preparation and cutting of various meats.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the butchery area, adhering to food safety standards.
- Package meat products for display and sale, ensuring proper labeling and presentation.
- Provide exceptional customer service by answering questions and assisting customers with their selections.
- Support inventory management by monitoring stock levels and reporting any shortages or discrepancies.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient use and processing of product.
Skills
- Culinary skills with a focus on food preparation techniques.
- Knowledge of meat cutting practices and familiarity with various cuts of meat.
- Strong customer service skills to enhance the shopping experience for customers.
- Experience in food handling and safety protocols within the food industry.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen or restaurant environment.
- Excellent organizational skills to maintain an orderly workspace.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 – 40 per week
