The Critical Cleaning Lead guides a team of Sanitation Technicians under the Sanitation Manager to achieve departmental goals and support all sanitation functions. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness and a food-safe environment in the processing facility and equipment, performing daily sanitation of processing lines, and ensuring good communication with management, operations, and maintenance departments.
This position will involve executing Critical Cleaning protocols according to the SSOP for each production line. This position is responsible for all activities involved in maintaining the cleanliness and food safe environment of the Processing facility, surrounding area and product totes and equipment and requires good communication and collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, Quality and Sanitation.
Hours: 6:00 pm - 4:30 am
Schedule: Wednesday - Sunday (5-6 days a week)

Core Responsibilities:
- Plan Critical Cleaning Technician daily assignments by identifying key individuals and placement in key positions to ensure regular quality performance results.
- Print tanker schedule for Tote wash to prepare for the week.
- Crosstrain employees to facilitate best practices to meet and exceed daily objectives.
- Operates Critical Cleaning Circular systems on Aseptic, Pasteurized, and Hot Fill production lines.
- Chemical and supply Inventory
- Assist CIP Techs
- Complete all Sanitation records required by the SSOP program.
- Direct Critical Cleaning Technician crew on proper sanitation process of manufacturing operating areas.
- Performs cleanliness audits of the Production area.
- Confer and communicate with Production Department Heads/Supervisors, Production Manager and/or QA department to receive requests and exchange other information pertinent to the Critical Cleaning process.
- Visual Inspection of Equipment.
- Must ensure sanitation guidelines and equipment meets or exceeds FDA, HACCP and QA standards.
- Train and verify that sanitation workers follow OR-OSHA safety guidelines, GMP standards.
- Promote, ensure and comply with all company policies, procedures and safety programs necessary to reduce and eliminate personal injury caused by the improper chemical applications and/or improper use of personal protective equipment (PPE’s).
- Assist in development, recordkeeping and training/coaching for site sanitation systems, including, but not limited to master sanitation schedule, pre/post sanitation audits, chemical and supply inventory, chemical usage, sanitation SOP's, inspections, HACCP program, and safety training programs
- Performs equipment cleaning per Critical Cleaning Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures.
- Performs plant cleaning as outlined by the Master Sanitation Schedule. Maintains general housekeeping in all areas of plant.
- Disassembles and reassembles filters, screens, piping and other processing equipment.
- Handling and use of chemicals including acids, chlorines, caustics and quats.
- Testing and recording of chemical concentrations via Titration.
- Visual inspection of equipment.
- Performs absence of allergen analysis. (Allergen Swabs)
- Performs clean equipment swabbing. (ATP Swabs)
- Comply with appropriate safety procedures. Maintains and uses appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- May perform other duties as required.
- Overtime and weekends may be required.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Self-Motivated.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and industry standard cleaning procedures.
- Knowledge of HACCP and allergens.
- Basic mechanical skills.
- Establish positive working relationships with Lyons’ management and senior support personnel.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a self-starter, highly motivated and results oriented.
- Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize high-demands tasks.
- Strong leadership or supervisory skills with experience supporting and motivating a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent plus.
- 2+ years’ experience preferred within related fields.
